RECENT PLAYWRITING ACTIVITY

LAKE BLUE TERRACE
Full-length stage play about a Polish political refugee and her adult son own a small tumbledown summer resort hotel near the shores of Lake Michigan. The story takes place in June 1989 - just prior to the end of the Cold War - and addresses large geopolitical and socio-economic themes by boiling them down into the antics, conflicts, and inter-generational relationships that develop in the small beach community know as "Harbor Country." Currently in development. ROADSHOW DELUXE A short one-act dramedy about a woman who is offered a significant amount of money for an artifact that contains the last words of her cherished husband who died unexpectedly. Workshop production directed by Edward W. Wavak and produced by the Theatre of Western Springs (Western Springs, IL.) as a part of the 23rd Annual Shorts for a Summer's Evening Festival. THE INTERVIEW Comedy: A seasoned Ivy League-educated professional learns more in an interview than he ever did in business school. Workshop production directed by Edward W. Wavak and produced by the Theatre of Western Springs (Western Springs, IL.) as a part of the 24th Annual Shorts for a Summer's Evening Festival. WASHINGTON A short one-act drama (magical realism) about a woman in Hell who doesn't know it. First showcased at Chicago Dramatists and directed by Kimberly Senior. The world premier of Washington was produced by the American Theatre Company (Chicago, Il.), directed by Sonny Das, and was part of the 8th Annual Big Shoulders Festival. |

WHITE PAINTED LINE
Full-length screenplay about a father and son who own a small construction business. When the son decides to leave the family business to stake his own claim on life, guilt and deep-seeded anger surfaces over the untimely death of the mother. Currently in development. GET RICH
30-minute short about a manufactured extortion plot gone wrong between lovers. The story was co-written with Andrew Chudzinski and produced by the Union Pier Group. It was an official selection at the New York International Film & Video Festival in Manhattan. |
TEACHING EXPERIENCE

WHEATON DRAMA
Fundamentals of Playwriting. A five-week workshop devoted to exploring the creative process of writing while developing the fundamental skills necessary for building a play. Nine students, 15 hours of in-class instruction, culminated into a 10-minute writers showcase. THEATRE OF WESTERN SPRINGS Three-hour workshops during monthly meetings devoted to learning and practicing basic and advanced elements of dramatic writing. Instruction, play analysis, guided discussions and group readings of master dramatists are used to exercise skills. Created, implemented, and managed a novel collaboration project between the TWS Playwrights and Directors’ Workshops resulting in new one-act plays and staged readings under a collective educational initiative for active members. Education Committee - Focus on classes and instructional opportunities for active members and community at large. Crafted vision and mission statements, and collaborated with entire team in establishing goals and outcomes for students. Curated novel program for theatre membership: “The Isolation Monologues” which was a collaboration between playwrights, directors, and resident actors to film and produce dramatic monologues via Zoom to engage the theatre community during the Covid-19 quarantine. Curated novel program for theatre membership: “What’s The Plan?” which was a collaboration between playwrights, directors, and resident actors to film and produce dramatic two-person scenes via Zoom that engaged the theatre community during the Covid-19 quarantine. Curated novel program for theatre membership: “TWS Story Slam.” Managed submission process and conducted writing workshops for authors presenting personal narratives for the camera and on stage, distributed throughout the theatre community via YouTube and additional internal distribution network. COLUMBIA COLLEGE CHICAGO Several guest lectures provided to film department students on screenwriting, dramatic arc, and best practices in directing actors. |

Produced by the Theatre of Western Springs (Western Springs, IL.) as a part of the 2017-2018 Winter Directors Workshop presentation. “Fragile Filigree Love” by Georgette Kelly A play about a woman and her dead grandmother who connect through generations of turmoil, gendered emotions, and limitations on love. Produced by the Theatre of Western Springs (Western Springs, IL.) as a part of the 2018-2019 Winter Directors Workshop presentation. "Dinner at Donovan's" by Nan Gatewood Satter Five actors play nine roles to tell this comedic story of an aging couple trying to find new friends through a mature couples app. Produced by the Theatre of Western Springs (Western Springs, IL.) as a part of the 2024 New Plays Workshop. "After an Earlier Incident" by James Armstrong Two hesitant strangers navigate the complex world of dating and making connections in mid-life. Produced by the Theatre of Western Springs (Western Springs, IL.) as a part of the 2025 New Plays Workshop.
